Guestlands – A Hidden Slice of Italy

Only an hour away from Sydney, Guestlands, a hidden bed and breakfast in Arcadia transported us to the cobble stone streets of Italy.

At a time where we can only dream about travelling, Guestlands was the perfect getaway to get swept up in a little fantasy. From the moment we parked, the scene engulfed us. Italian music was on repeat, the warm sun was creating magical shadows across the stunning architecture, and Pete and Jenny, the owners of the property welcomed us with “bonjourno”.

It is a true jaw dropping moment when you walk onto the faux street, they have even added in a fake restaurant and flower shop to really make you believe you are in Italy.

Guestlands has 4 villas available, all unique and special in their own way. Each room has beautiful recycled timber finishings, and Pete and Jenny have prioritised sustainable practices in their building process. You have the option to book one of the rooms, or the entire property which can comfortably fit 8 people depending on it’s availability.

On our first night, Pete and Jenny offered a complimentary happy hour on their sunset bar, which has the best view of the street. The hosts will either engage with you, or give you your own space. Tommy and I got along with Pete and Jenny very well, and loved hearing all their stories. We have genuinely made a life-long friendship.

After a few proseccos, and a lot of laughs, Tommy and I cooked up an Italian feast. Jenny filled the street with candles, creating a super romantic setting for us on our first night.

The next morning, massages were organised for us at the estate. The masseuse set up under the trees by the pool. It was so relaxing listening to the sound of birds singing whilst having one of the best massages of our lives.

After our massage, we wondered around the 5-acre property. Magical gardens, a lake, a thriving veggie garden, a huge 22 meter pool and so much more surround this estate. It is the perfect spot to relax, wind down and detox from the crazy city lifestyle.

That evening, we went to A Chef Secrets for dinner (Yes, they’ve spelt it wrong but don’t let that fool you!) Located on Berowra Waters, it’s only a 10-minute drive and a 5-minute ferry away from Guestlands. Serving Italian inspired cuisine, we indulged in oysters, raw kingfish, prawns and a perfectly cooked trout main. They had options for dietary requirements too, and the staff were very helpful.

The next morning, we had brunch at Sugar Salt. The food was fresh, healthy and it is another great spot for either breakfast or lunch if you get the chance to visit this area.

I really couldn’t recommend Guestlands enough. Pete and Jenny made our stay so special, and we are already planning our next visit to this hidden slice of Italy.
